Profile
Gio is an Italian designer based in Stockholm, currently working at Fjord as a Senior Visual Designer.
With over 10 years of experience across different design disciplines, he's a specialist in providing uniques digital and physical design solutions.
His expertise encompasses all the stages of a digital product and service design for both website and mobile apps, as well as physical experiences and the creation of scalable design systems and visual identities in branding projects, understanding strategy goals, organizational and political company's dynamics, and explaining eloquently design decisions to the team and to the stakeholders.
He's also co-founder of Re—Union: a multidisciplinary space of creation based in Madrid in which his passion for digital and brand identities design comes alive on freelance bases, outside the corporate world.
On self-initiated art projects he experiments on graphic design on @giopandone and with post-internet aesthetic, glitch art, and noise art under the moniker Unvoluntary Movement.
Background
After a brief experience working in marketing in Italy, Gio heeded the call for communication and design after moving to Madrid in 2009. He began his career in the advertising industry, working as an art director for DDB and JWT, two of the most prominent multinational advertising firms in the world.
Influenced by avant-garde artistic movements of the early/mid-twentieth century such as Suprematism and Russian Constructivism as well as the Bauhaus, Dutch, and Swiss graphic design, his work is meant to be useful, elegant, expressive.
He finds beauty in order, proportions, constraints, and rules, but also believes in intuition and experimentation. To him, the balance between these elements is the recipe for memorable design solutions.
Throughout his career, Gio has had the pleasure of working for clients such as: Telia, Nobia, Repsol, Bankia, Fundación Telefónica, Endesa, Coca-Cola, Teatro Español, Unicef, Coronita, among many others.
Interests
A lover of music, Gio has been playing for 15 years, 8 of which he was a singer and synth player for the former Spanish post-punk act October People, which released two albums between 2012 and 2015.
In his spare time he enjoys going to exhibitions and live concerts, playing his synthesizers, meditating, working out, and above all reading about art, design, sociology, philosophy, crime and dystopian science fiction.
